CRRC Zhouzhou Electric Locomotive is supplying 27 five-car Type B trains for the project and deliveries are due to be completed by the end of the year.
The 27.1km Orange Line will connect Ali Town in the west of the city with Dera Gujran in the northeast. The 26-station line will have an initial design capacity of 250,000 passengers per day, increasing to 500,000 passengers per day after 2025.
