Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) has received Rs 1bn ($US 15m) to purchase property along the 13.3km alignment of Line 2, which will link Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) with Nidamanuru. Further funding for land acquisition will be released by the state in phases and the process is due to be completed within four months.

The Rs 72.1bn two-line first phase of the network was approved by the Indian government last September and the Public Investment Board is expected to sign the project off by the end of this month. This will enable AMRC to sign a memorandum of understanding with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on the implementation of the project. Construction is due to begin on Line 2 next year.
