The contract was signed by the director of Metrovagonmash, Mr Boris Bogatyrev, and the director of Yekaterinburg Metro, Mr Andrei Panaiotidi, on February 11.

The trains will consist of two powered driving vehicles and two intermediate trailer vehicles. The two trains can operate in combination with Yekaterinburg metro’s existing fleet.

Flame retardant and fireproof materials will be used in the vehicle interiors, while the trains will be equipped with a modern traffic safety system, and CCTV with a link to the drivers cab.

The doorways are equipped with a closing warning alarm and an obstacle detection system. The driving cars will feature a space for passengers with reduced mobility.

Driving cars will be able to accommodate 308 passengers, including 39 seated, while trailer cars will accommodate 330 passengers, including 48 seated. The trains will have a maximum speed of 90km/h.
