SHANGHAI Shentong Metro Group has awarded Alstom’s Chinese joint venture Shentong Bombardier (Shanghai) Rail Transit Vehicle Maintenance (SHBRT) a €43.6m whole lifecycle maintenance contract for 34 Movia trains operating on Shanghai metro’s Line 12 phase 2 and 3 project.

The contract includes preventative and corrective maintenance, overhauls, safety inspections and train cleaning for 204 metro vehicles. SHBRT will adopt a condition-based maintenance regime for the contract by adopting Alstom’s Orbita advanced train monitoring system to improve reliability on the Line 12 fleet.

In 2016, SHBRT was awarded the first full fleet metro maintenance contract in China when Shanghai Metro enlisted them to provide 12 years of maintenance service for 246 metro vehicles for Line 12. This was on a 6+6 years basis. This latest agreement with Shanghai Metro is a supplementary contract to that initial contract award.

All 204 Movia Metro vehicles for the Shanghai Line 12 phases 2 and 3 were delivered by another Alstom joint venture, Changchun Alstom Railway Vehicles.
