The line will be equipped with 2x25kV ac electrification and the catenary will allow sufficient clearance for the operation of double-stack container trains. The project, which will be completed within 423 months, involves the construction of seven traction substations, 40 switching stations, 897 single-track-km of catenary, Scada works at 12 stations and an operational control centre, together with the supply of all associated equipment.

Traction power transformers, auto transformers, and copper conductors for the project will be produced in Japan.

Larson & Toubro is already electrifying the adjacent 915km section of the Western DFC from Rewari to Vadodara. In total, the contractors will erect over 3000 single-track-km of catenary along these two sections of the route.
