Total freight revenues rose 26.2% from $US 3.3bn to $US 4.1bn, while passenger turnover increased 9.2% year-on-year from $US 1.3bn to $US 1.5bn.
Passenger numbers increased 5% over the same period last year from 2.03 billion to 2.13 billion.
INDIAN Railways has reported a 20.7% increase in revenues for the first quarter of the 2012-13 financial year with earnings for April-June reaching $US 6bn, compared with $US 5bn during the corresponding period last year.
