A prototype 16-car train was unveiled at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in October and recently reached 180km/h during trials on the Kota - Sawai Madhopur line in Rajasthan. The train is expected to make its debut in revenue service next month.
In a letter confirming the order, the Railway Board says ICF can now make necessary arrangements for the procurement of materials and schedule production activities.
