Alstom will also carry out a technical review of the system under the €50m contract.

Alstom will supply its OptONIX traction system, which was developed specifically for the Chinese market. The traction systems will be manufactured by the Shanghai Alstom Transport Electrical Equipment (Satee) joint venture, with support from Alstom’s facilities in Belgium, France and India. Xi’an Alstom Yongji Electric Equipment will supply the traction motors.

The 35.7km Line 7, which will have 27 stations, will connect the southwest and northeast of the city, and when fully completed will interchange with 11 other metro lines. Line 7 is due to open in 2021.
