The 13-station line runs from an interchange with Line 1 at Longkang Road in the west of the city to Suzhou New District Railway Station, with a branch to Wenchang Road. In addition to main line services, Suzhou New District Railway Station will become an interchange with metro Line 3 when it opens next year.

Services are operated by a fleet of 18 five-section 100% low-floor LRVs, which were supplied by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen using electrical equipment from Škoda Electric’s Chinese joint venture company Škoda Kingway.

CRRC Nanjing Puzhen is also supplying rolling stock for the 9km Line 3, which is currently under construction.
