The additional money takes the government expenditure on station accessibility upgrades to nearly $A 500m.

The government also announced the formation of the Queensland Accessible Transport Advisory Council (QATAC), an independent advisory group for transport accessibility, which will be headed by a retired district court judge.

Transport and main roads minister Mr Mark Bailey said the new group would give a stronger voice to people with vision, hearing, physical or cognitive impairments.

The government has also spent $A 335m on its new Bombardier New Generation Rolling Stock (NGR) EMUs after it was found that they did not conform to disability legislation. The trains were delivered between 2017 and December 2019.
