ECP equipment uses an electronic signal to apply and release brakes simultaneously throughout the train permitting operation at higher speeds while reducing braking distances by up to 60%.
This order follows a previous contract secured by Wabtec from Rio Tinto to supply ECP equipment to retrofit iron-ore wagons and locomotives. Equipment purchased under the latest order will be delivered by the end of the year.
