Siemens will provide its Trainguard MT train control system, which continually monitors and regulates the speed of the train, for the upgrade along with Sicas electronic interlockings. It will also supply its Controlguide Vicos operations control system at the depot located in Constitución, and Airlink radio transmission platform.
Siemens says the upgrade will take place without disruption to services on the line which carries 340,000 passengers a day. Commissioning is set to take place by the end of 2016.
