Stadler was awarded a contract in March 2018 to supply 12 33m-long bidirectional vehicles for the first phase of the 40.4km network.
The vehicles are being built at Stadler’s plant in Minsk, Belarus, and arrived in South America via the Chilean port of Iquique. The remaining 11 vehicles will be delivered to Cochabamba by March 2020. Stadler will maintain the fleet for three years.
The first test run is due to take place on Avenida Petrolera later this month and the first phase is scheduled to open on August 26 2020.
