Guarulhos Express services will share tracks with Line 12 between Brás station in the city centre and Engenheiro Goulart station in the district of Tatupé, where a new 12.3km branch will diverge to serve two new stations, Guarulhos Cecap and Guarulhos International Airport. The line is expected to carry around 120,000 passengers per day.

The Reais 905m ($US 444m) budget excludes the cost of acquiring eight purpose-built trains, which are expected to cost around Reais 300m. The eight-car sets will include a baggage car and will have additional luggage racks.

The deadline for proposals for the revised tender is January 30. Construction is expected to begin in June and the line will open at the end of next year. In the longer term, an extension beyond the airport to Vila São João is proposed.
