The contract is divided into two lots and covers the operation of regional and regional express services across an 853km network from December 2018.

Abellio will operate around 387 services on weekdays (8.6 million train-km per year), with six of the 13 lines extending into neighbouring states.

Lot A encompasses three routes, including:
Magdeburg – Halberstadt – Thale/Blankenburg/Goslar with one train extended to Berlin at the weekend (RE 11/21/31)
Halle (Saale) – Halberstadt – Goslar (RE 4/24), and
Magdeburg – Oschersleben (RB 43)

Lot B comprises eight lines, including:
Stendal – Wolfsburg (RB 35)
Magdeburg – Wolfsburg (RB 36)
Magdeburg – Wolfsburg (RE 6)
Magdeburg – Güsten – Aschersleben (RB 41)
Dessau – Güsten – Aschersleben (RB 50)
Halle (Saale) – Könnern – Bernburg (RB 47)
Magdeburg – Sangerhausen – Erfurt (RE 10), and
Naumburg (Saale) – Nebra – Wangen (RB 77)

Services will be operated by a new fleet of 52 Coradia Lint DMUs ordered from Alstom earlier this year.
