The agreement also foresees the elimination of the Via delle Murge and Santa Caterina level crossings in Bari.
FAL has already tendered track-doubling works on the Bari Scalo – Bari Policlinico and Modugno – Palo sections and these projects are fully financed by the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning (CIPE) through the Italian government's 'South Plan.
The €46m track-doubling programme will enable the acceleration of both Bari - Matera regional services and suburban services on the Bari – Toritto section.
