The investigation is being led by Christian Democratic Party politician Mrs Madeleine van Toorenburg and will scrutinise the events that led to the crisis. Hearings will begin in the second half of 2014 and a final report is due to be published in May 2015.
The €2.16m budget for the inquiry has been criticised by some political parties and the populist right wing PVV party has refused to support the investigation because it perceives the cost to be excessive.
