The contract covers the operation of Schweinfurt - Meiningen and Schweinfurt - Bad Kissingen - Gemunden services, and EB will increase frequencies on both lines, raising total annual train-km by around 6% compared with the current timetable. Most of the additional trains will operate in the Schweinfurt area, although there will be more late evening services on other parts of the network. Onboard ticket machines will also be introduced.

The performance of the concession will be monitored by BEG.

EB is 100% owned by the city of Erfurt and in June this year took over operation of the East Thuringia Diesel Network, which it will operate until December 2024.
