The project includes construction of a second track on the Warka – Radom section, upgrading of power supplies, renewal of signalling and telecommunications systems, and safety improvements at 50 level crossings. Maximum line speeds will be increased to 160km/h for passenger trains and 120km/h for freight trains.

The modernisation works are due to begin before the end of the year and the project will be completed in 2017.

The EIB has now provided PKP PLK with nine separate loans totalling €1.65bn for infrastructure upgrades across Poland.
