The electrification project will be completed in 2015 and will allow Copenhagen – Esbjerg passenger services to switch to electric traction, releasing the dmus currently used on these services to provide additional capacity elsewhere on the network.

The second part of the project involves constructing a new 450m-long double-track line into the port of Esbjerg, which will provide a direct link between the port and the line to Lunderskov.
