As the transport act in Finland requires open mobility data, it allows independent third parties to sell tickets for public transport.

Fairtiq says it applied as a ticketing service provider, and was able to convince the authorities in Turku of its ticketing solution, which allows users to use their phone as a ticket when travelling and automatically calculates the best fare for the trip across different transport modes.

The Bern-based company says the move is an important step, as it has set itself the goal of internationalisation after fully covering Switzerland.
