Following regulatory approval, the four partners will each hold a 25% stake in Wizway Solutions, which will seek to develop "simple, modern ticketing solutions facilitating door-to-door travel." The alliance will also remain open to other public transport operators and mobile network operators.

Wizway's solution will be based on NFC technology commonly used in handheld electronic devices, employing Calypso international contactless ticketing standards, which have been adopted widely in France. SNCF says the system will be compatible with different device operating systems and will be available through various telecoms operators in France, and internationally in the medium-term.

A public rollout is scheduled for 2017.
