The increase from €210m to €298m is attributed to the provision of additional noise mitigation measures, costing some €30m, higher prices for materials, and the need to meet new standards for construction in permanent way, signalling, structures and level crossings.
Financing the investments is subject to an agreement between infrastructure manager DB Networks, the German and Swiss governments, and the state of Bavaria.
