SJ will manage the planning and operation of services in the region, as well as the provision of onboard services, and daily and technical maintenance of rolling stock. SJ will also be responsible for the operation and upkeep of depots in Kalmar and Nässjö.
The Krösatågen network is a collaboration between the county transport companies of Jönköping, Kalmar, Halland, Blekinge, Kronoberg and Skåne.
The 10-line network currently operates around 7.5 million train-km per year and serves 78 stations. Services are provided by two operators: Vy Tåg, which runs eight lines under the brand name Krösatågen; and Transdev, which runs two lines as Kustpilen.
Following SJ’s takeover in 2021, all services will be operated as Krösatågen.
