The 1000mm-gauge LRVs will be supplied by Leipzig-based manufacturer HeiterBlick, as agreed in December 2019.
The EMCon DI1000-5AR system offers energy-efficient double-traction power converters and is designed to provide efficiency and low maintenance. The system also includes braking resistors, control levers and other components.
In addition, the company will provide onboard, vehicle control and diagnostics and monitoring systems for the vehicles.
The new five-car vehicles will replace the operator’s existing high-floor trams and will offer 76 seats and space for 147 standing passengers, as well as wheelchairs, bikes and pushchairs. The new LRVs will also offer air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, passenger information systems and 20 USB charging points.
