The announcement comes after Vy was awarded a contract to operate two daily overnight services between Stockholm, Östersund and Narvik in February, replacing incumbent SJ at the December timetable change. Bombardier is currently contracted to maintain the fleet, which is owned by Trafikverket, on SJ’s behalf and will continue this arrangement under the new operator.

The contract will run from December 2020 and will include the regular maintenance of 12 RC6 locomotives and 75 passenger coaches, comprising sleeping cars, restaurant cars and second class coaches.

In addition, Bombardier will carry out periodic heavy maintenance work such as bogie overhaul. All work be carried out at the Notviken depot near Luleå, northern Sweden.
