Regiojet says its contract with GKB, which was “highly professional and contributed to the general success of Regiojet trains on the Prague - Vienna route,” will come to an end when the present timetable ends on December 14.

Regiojet says it has developed other areas of cooperation with Westbahn, such as sales, and has decided to incorporate operations into that agreement as well. From December 15, Westbahn will be responsible for the Břeclav - Vienna Main Station section of the journey, which operates four times a day, while Regiojet will continue to cover the business and customer service responsibilities for the entire trip.

Both open-access operators currently share a joint ticket shop at Vienna Main Station, and Regiojet also sells tickets for Westbahn trains via its distribution channels as well as connecting train services to Regiojet trains and buses at Vienna Main station.

Regiojet launched the Vienna - Prague service in December 2017, and operates the service at a profit without subsidies with an average occupancy more than 80%. Regiojet announced on June 18 that it had completed a €36m bond issue on the Prague Stock Exchange, which it says will be used to expand its fleet capacities and support further growth.
