The three-year contact has six unfunded one-year extension options and includes preparation of a final environmental impact statement.

The project involves extending CTA’s busiest metro line south from 95th Dan Ryan to 130th Street.

Last year, CTA committed $US 310m in its 2020-2024 capital budget to the project, which was required to secure matching federal funding.

“This contract award is a major step towards our goal and will move us closer to the federal funding we will need to build the Red Line extension,” says CTA’s president, Mr Dorval Carter, Jr.
