Westbahn operates seven Stadler-built Kiss double-deck EMUs with another 10 Kiss 2 sets due for delivery from mid-2017 at a cost of €180m. Until now, the existing trains have been maintained by Stadler in Linz.

ÖBB subsidiary ÖBB-Technical Services and Stadler will take over the maintenance of the Kiss fleet from mid-2017 using a newly modernised depot near Vienna West station. The joint venture will be 60% owned by ÖBB and 40% by Stadler and is expected to employ around 40 people by December 2018.

The financial contributions of both partners has not been disclosed although ÖBB is providing and modernising the maintenance facility in Vienna, and Stadler brings detailed know-how about the manufacture and maintenance of the trains.
