The standard-gauge vehicles have a maximum speed of 160km/h, while the metre-gauge trains will reach 130km/h.

CSR Nanjing says construction of the vehicles to international standards marks a major breakthrough for the Chinese manufacturer. In developing the trains, engineers utilised technologies already used in CSR's high-speed trains to reduce the noise of the diesel engine to below 68dB. Attention was also paid to reducing the weight of the train.
