Overhaul work includes replacing upholstering with more resilient materials and incorporating a contemporary design that matches other FGC vehicles. The trains will also be fitted with new interior LED lighting, improved toilets, and new external and internal livery. This will enhance protection against graffiti and provide clearer markings for doors and reserved seating areas, while the table tops between seats will be reserved for information and advertising.

The rolling stock improvements follow the results of FGC's latest customer satisfaction index, which records opinions on 27 aspects of FGC's service. A decline in satisfaction for the class 213 trains follows the entry into service of new class 113 EMUs on the Barcelona - Valles line in December.
