ČD placed a Koruna 2.6bn ($US 110m) contract with Škoda in August 2014 for 14 of the trains and the first sets were introduced on the Brno – Breclav – Olomouc line last December. The trains have also been used on Prague - Česká Trebová - Brno semi-fast services since January.

The five-car trains are capable of operating under 3kV dc and 25kV 50Hz electrification systems. Each five-car set seats 350 passengers including 42 in first class.

The InterPanter is derived from the Škoda 7Ev RegioPanter EMU, 78 of which have been ordered by ČD for regional services.
