PKP Intercity placed a Zlotys 1.16bn ($US 310m) order with the consortium for 20 160km/h eight-car trains in August 2013, together with a Zlotys 464m contract to maintain the fleet for 15 years.

A total of 11 trains have been delivered so far, four of which are undergoing trials on the Polish Railway Research Institute test track at Żmigród. Production of the remaining nine trains is at an "advanced stage" at Stadler Poland's plant in Siedlce.

The first trains will enter service in December and the fleet will be deployed on four routes:

  • Olsztyn - Warsaw - Krakow
  • Warsaw - Bydgoszcz
  • Gdynia - Bydgoszcz - Katowice, and
  • Krakow - Lodz - Poznan - Szczecin.
