The order for 19 six-car Kiss sets (classified RABe 511 by SBB) is worth SFr 397m ($US 446m) and the trains will enter service from the end of 2018, supplementing the fleet of identical trains currently being delivered by Stadler for the Zürich S-Bahn. The 150m-long trains, which have been ordered by SBB on behalf of Zürich Transport Authority, will be used on the new Line S11 (Seuzach/Wila – Aarau) and S12 (Seuzach – Winterthur – Brugg). The launch of Line S11 will enable the operation of a 15-minute interval S-Bahn service between Winterthur and Dietikon.

The four additional Flirt EMUs for Vaud will enter service in 2016. The total value of the order is SFr 62m.

All of the additional trains will be assembled at Stadler's Bussnang plant in eastern Switzerland.

SBB says it expects to invest around SFr 1bn per year in new and modernised rolling stock over the next few years.
