The line was closed for two weeks while infrastructure manager Banedanmark finalised the installation of ERTMS and train operator North Jutland Railways (NJ) trained its staff. The frequency of services has been reduced during the testing phase, but Banedanmark says it expects ERTMS will enable shorter headways, increased frequencies and improved punctuality from December.

The rollout of ERTMS across the entire Danish network was originally scheduled to be completed by 2023, but in November 2017 the Danish government pushed that deadline back to 2030 in light of serious difficulties with the installation of onboard equipment. The onboard programme was hampered by a longer-than-anticipated design phase, issues with train documentation, and software management issues.
