Using its Trainguard MT system, Siemens will install CBTC on the two lines totalling 38.2km, at two depots, and in 23 three-car trains which will be supplied by CRRC, China. The system will be designed for 90-second headways with automatic train operation.
Construction of 12.1km of the 19.6km north-south Line 1 is already underway between the southern terminus at Khapri and Ajni Square in the city centre. The 18.6km east-west line will link Prajapati Nagar with Lokmanya Nagare.
