Work began in July on the $A 200m Rocklands – Stanwell Duplication Project, which involves 18km of track-doubling and construction of three new bridges between Rocklands and Stanwell on the Blackwater line.

The signalling contract, which will see the first deployment of Invensys Rail's new Westrace Mk 2 interlockings in Australia, and involves the design, supply, installation and testing of signalling equipment at Rocklands, Gracemere, Kabra, and Warren. Invensys' share of the contract is worth $A 32m.

The project is due to be completed in June 2014 and will support the introduction of 1700m-long coal trains, which will serve the new Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) at the Port of Gladstone.
