CANADIAN engineering company SNC-Lavalin has confirmed the acquisition of consultancy company Atkins for a $C 3.6bn ($US 2.77bn).
BRITAIN’s infrastructure manager Network Rail (NR) has awarded a £9m contract to Atkins to upgrade signalling on a section of the Cornish Main Line.
SNC-LAVALIN announced on April 20 that it has reached an agreement with WS Atkins to acquire the company’s entire share capital at £20.80 per share, representing an aggregate cash consideration of £2.1bn.

THE second phase of the light rail network in the Norwegian city of Bergen was inaugurated on June 21, when Hordaland county mayor Mr Tom-Christer Nilsen and Bergen mayor Mrs Trude Drevlan officially opened the 3.6km extension from Nesttun to Lagunen station in the district of Rådal.
