Frankfurt U-Bahn extension approved
THE local governments in Bad Homburg and Frankfurt am Main have reached an agreement to construct a 1.6km extension of Frankfurt U-Bahn light rail line U2 from the current terminus at Gonzenheim to the S-Bahn station at Bad Homburg. A local referendum held in 2018 showed 70.3% of voters supported the project.

Frankfurt’s Regionaltangente West tram-train scheme makes progress
FOLLOWING approval of the investment case and a decision to proceed with construction by Frankfurt am Main transit authority planning company RTW in late November, work is now underway to obtain planning permission for the new Regionaltangente West tram-train network with the aim of starting operation in 2026.

Study to examine tunnel beneath Frankfurt Main Station
PLANS to build a tunnel and underground platforms beneath Frankfurt Main Station to avoid long-distance trains having to reverse direction have taken a step forward with the launch of a feasibility study on September 16.
