CHILE’s Antofagasta Railway (FCAB) has awarded GE Transportation a contract to supply five C23EMP single-cab ac/dc diesel-electric locomotives for delivery in 2019. The deal, the first between the two partners, includes a parts, service and warranty agreement.
GE Transportation unveiled its first nearly-completed TE33A locomotive bound for Ukrainian Railways (UZ) in Erie, United States, on June 10. The first of 30 12-cylinder 3355kW units should be transported to the Ukraine in a few weeks where the final 10% will be completed.
THE boards of General Electric (GE) and Wabtec approved the merger of GE Transportation with Wabtec in a deal worth $US 11.1bn on May 21. The merger will make Wabtec a Fortune 500 company and a major player in the railway equipment and services market with operations in more than 50 countries.
KAZAKHSTAN Railways (KTZ) has signed two contracts worth more than $US 900m with GE Transportation for 300 shunting locomotives and an 18-year service agreement to manage maintenance and repair of KTZ’s 175 GE Evolution series passenger locomotives.
CANADIAN National Railway (CN) has awarded a contract to GE Transportation to supply 200 Evolution series diesel-electric locomotives during the next three years. GE says this is the largest order to be placed by a North American Class 1 railway since 2014.
