TRANSNET Freight Rail, the rail arm of South African state-owned port and rail operator Transnet, has bought 34 former Queensland Rail diesel-electric locomotives as a stopgap measure as it waits for new locomotives, ordered in a massive Rand 50bn ($US 4.76bn) deal earlier this year, to enter service.
