FRANKFURT Transport (VGF) has reportedly been given the green light to proceed with a €50m order for 22 new metro cars from Bombardier to extend the length of trains operating on three U-Bahn lines.
A plan to invest around €3.1bn in the modernisation of Berlin’s U-Bahn and tram fleets by 2035 was approved by the supervisory board of Berlin Transport (BVG) on November 1.
THE mayor of Berlin Mr Michael Müller and Berlin senator for transport Mr Andreas Geisel confirmed on April 8 that the city is looking at options for the extension of U-Bahn line U8 from its current northern terminus at Wittenau to serve the Märkisches Viertal residential area in the district of Reinickendorf.
PLANS to extend Munich U-Bahn Line 5 by 3.77km from the existing terminus at Laimer Platz to Pasing have cleared a further hurdle after the city council's building committee instructed the building department to put prepare planning approval for the project.
