The experiment took place with Grade of Automation Level 2 (GoA 2), where a driver is present to supervise and intervene if necessary. NS says the trial was successful and generated valuable data.

The train operated based on a programmed timetable, with the traction and braking controlled automatically and the train stopping at a platform at the correct location while running on time.

NS will hold more ATO trials in the coming months with various scenarios, such as running on tracks with poor adhesion and anticipating other train traffic in the surrounding environment.
