WITH the MCx OTT (Over The Top) solution, a public mobile operators’ network services are used as a transport medium for the MCx application with GSM-R-like features such as point-to-point calling, group calls and prioritised calls.
Kontron offers the solution as a “hosted solution” in a data centre or alternatively as a server solution installed in the customer’s network. IP-68 industrial-grade smartphones with an MCx client, IP-enabled dispatcher with several modern user interfaces, and cab radios that follow the FRMCS standard serve as end devices.
Since public mobile networks do not always provide ubiquitous network coverage along the tracks, the MCx OTT solution offers support for multiple network services as well as enhancements such as voice recording, a messaging service and a heartbeat function to verify connectivity to the central MCx application.
