FRAUSCHER developed a three-rail solution for track vacancy detection that meets all requirements set by Spain’s infrastructure manager Adif, which not only provides clear or occupied information from a section, but also the track gauge the train is running on. The solution is based on the Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC, together with Frauscher RSR123 wheel sensors and a specially developed type of the Frauscher SK150 rail claw for easy mounting in tight spaces.

The project was launched in March 2020 and comprises 920 detection points in 19 stations. The FAdC provides the Frauscher Safe Ethernet FSE interface for Bombardier-supplied interlockings while the customer-specific protocol WNC is used for Siemens’ interlockings, providing flexibility and versatility while complying with both customer-specific protocols and standard protocols like Eulynx.
