NORWEGIAN infrastructure manager Bane Nor has awarded Vossloh Nordic Switch Systems, the Swedish subsidiary of Vossloh, a framework contract worth more than €80m to supply switches and crossings for mainline railways and the development of new range of switches for heavy-haul lines.

Bane Nor will receive the fully assembled components on special tilted wagons from Vossloh’s Swedish plant in Ystad. The contract also includes the supply of spare parts for all existing crossing and switches across the approximately 4200km Norwegian network.

The contract has an initial term of two years with options for extensions of up to six years. Deliveries will begin later this year.

“Sustainability criteria played a major role in the awarding of the contract, further evidence of the high importance attached to this issue in our industry,” says Mr Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh. “We are therefore very pleased that we were again able to convince in this area and successfully continue our long-standing business relationship with Bane Nor.”
