The 705km line follows an inland route from Beijing via Chengde, Chaoyang, and Fuxi to Shenyang, where it will connect with the existing high-speed line to Harbin. The line is being designed for a maximum speed of 350km/h.
When the new line is completed, the journey time between Beijing and Shenyang will be reduced from around four hours today to 2h 17min.
