Under the first contact, a Harsco P811 track renewal train and its 24-person crew will replace approximately 22,000 sleepers and 13km of rail in the greater New York City area.

The track renewal work will be carried out in 2016 and 2017, and it is planned to start work in early spring and finish by the end of May each year, so that it is completed prior to the summer-season increase in rail traffic.

The second contract will use a Harsco New Track Construction (NTC) machine and its 13-person crew in New York and Connecticut to lay around 8km of new continuous welded rail (CWR) and about 12,000 new sleepers. Again, the work will be carried out this year and in 2017.
