The Railway Asset Scanning Car (RASC) Pod can be equipped with a variety of asset monitoring systems including ground penetrating radar, laser scanning, stereo cameras, and linescan cameras. Data collection can be controlled and analysed remotely and the pod generates reports on data collection productivity and system status, which are provided via a web server.

Zetica Rail says the pod can be set up in 10 minutes and no additional connections are required for the unit, which is fitted with its own power, climate control, and data collection systems. The pod can operate at up to 160km/h and is capable of measuring a variety of below-track parameters, including ballast volume.

All onboard systems have already been approved and the pod currently on display in Berlin is due to undergo Vehicle Acceptance Body (VAB) certification when it returns to Britain.
