Nottingham light rail expansion contract awarded

NOTTINGHAM City Council has placed a £570m contact with the Tramlink Nottingham Consortium to build two light rail extensions totalling 17.5km, and operate them along with the city's existing line under a 23-year concession.

Ganz-Škoda wins Miskolc LRV tender

A JOINT venture of Ganz, Hungary, and Škoda Transportation has been selected as preferred supplier for a contract to supply 31 low-floor LRVs to Miskolc in a deal worth around $US 104m, which includes an option for a further 10 vehicles worth $US 9.17m.

Siemens confirms first Avenio LRV order

SIEMENS today confirmed it has received its first firm order for the Avenio LRV with the signing of a Euros 100m contract for 40 vehicles by The Hague Tramways (HTM). The contract includes driver training, documentation, and spare parts, as well as options for up to 40 additional LRVs.

ALSTOM and its Russian strategic partner Transmashholding (TMH) have signed a memorandum of understanding with St Petersburg city council to cooperate on the development of modern light rail technology for the city.

Basle chooses Bombardier LRV

BASLE Transport Authority (BVB) revealed today that Bombardier has won the tender to supply 60 new LRVs. The contract is worth around SFr 220m ($US 249.2m) and is the largest in BVB's 116-year history.
